Susan Swan is a Toronto novelist and non-fiction writer with international publications and a professor emerita at York University. She is also co-founder of The Carol Shields Prize for Fiction, the largest literary prize in the world for Canadian and American women and non-binary fiction authors. Her latest book Big Girls Don’t Cry, a memoir about the way her size shaped her life, was published simultaneously by HarperCollins Canada on May 27, 2025 and by Beacon Press in the U.S. Her memoir is on the Canadian Indie Bestseller list.
